Gloucester County Cricket Ground – Renson Exterior Blinds Project

When a block of penthouses was built overlooking Gloucester County Cricket Ground in Bristol, the design capitalized on large windows and French doors to offer residents breathtaking views of the cricket pitch. For cricket enthusiasts, it was akin to having a free front-row seat to every match.

However, this architectural feature soon revealed a significant downside: an uncomfortable rise in indoor temperatures. Homeowners reported temperatures soaring to 28 degrees Celsius, even on cooler days. The culprit was the expansive glass surfaces, which allowed infrared rays from the sun to penetrate and become trapped inside, causing a greenhouse effect.

Kensington Blinds was approached to provide a solution to this overheating issue. Understanding that the most effective way to prevent heat buildup was to stop it from entering in the first place, they installed Renson exterior blinds on the windows. The open weave of the fiberglass fabric used in these blinds allows natural light to pass through while reflecting the heat away before it enters the room.

This design maintains light levels and outward visibility while significantly reducing heat ingress. The installation of these motorized blinds proved highly effective, bringing the average indoor temperature down to a comfortable 21 degrees Celsius—a remarkable 7-degree reduction. Easily controlled via remote, these blinds offer homeowners the ability to adjust them as needed, ensuring both comfort and convenience.
