Holburne Museum – Rooflight Roller Blinds Installation
The Holburne Museum in Bath, a Grade 1 listed building established as the city's first public art gallery in 1882, has evolved into a leading independent museum and registered charity. With a mission of changing lives through art, the museum continues to be a cultural cornerstone in Bath, offering diverse exhibitions and educational programs.
In recent years, a modern extension was added to the historic structure, seamlessly blending contemporary design with its classical architecture. This extension was part of a broader initiative to enhance the museum's facilities and visitor experience.
As part of this modernization, Kensington Blinds was entrusted with the task of providing new blinds throughout the museum. These roller blinds were essential in controlling light levels within the galleries, crucial for the preservation of delicate exhibits and the comfort of visitors.
Additionally, Kensington Blinds faced the unique challenge of installing concealed rooflight blinds over the museum's large circular dome skylights. The intricate shape and size of these domes, combined with the heritage status of the location, required meticulous planning and execution. The successful installation not only protected the art collections from harmful light exposure but also maintained the aesthetic and historical integrity of the Holburne Museum, ensuring it remains a treasured institution for future generations.
